A Life-Changing Impact
I want to tell you and the Sting Organization what you have done for my granddaughter. This is a little girl who lost her dad in a car accident, and then lost her mom who became mentally unstable over his death. She has had several family traumas, including her recent loss of her grandfather whom she spent a lot of time painting with. On top of that she played for a coach at that time who did not do anything but degrade her to the point of making her cry at every practice and game. If it had not been for the Sting Organization and her coach, I don’t know where we would be.
YOU have literally saved our lives. She was in a very dark place in her life and this club saved her and me as well. She was a little girl who did not talk much, cried a lot, walked around with her head hung down, and who told me on many occasions that she felt that she was not worth anything – that she was something you would scrape off the road. I became fearful for her life. If Sting would not have made it financially possible for us to join the club that first year, I don’t know where she would be right now. The Coach has been such a wonderful influence on her life. He has encouraged her, given her guidance, and been a great role model. He has been understanding, as well as firm with her, and she is a totally different person because of it.
I want to brag a bit on her because I know with all of my heart that this is all because of this organization and coach. I was asked to attend a meeting at her school with all of her teachers and principal. I asked if anything was wrong and they said they could not discuss it over the phone. I went to the school worried about what they wanted to talk to me about. When I got there, each and every teacher, including the principal, proceeded to tell me what a wonderful student she was and how glad they were to have her in their class. They then asked if it was ok if they could start prepping her for all honors classes next year in 8th grade. I was in tears because of all of the beautiful things they had to say about her. She also became the President of the National Honor Society in 7th grade, Vice President in 8th grade, she won several awards for her artwork and has had her work displayed in our city library. She has been on the A-B Honor Roll in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Her teachers and peers named her “Queen” at her 8th grade banquet. She was accepted into High School this year for the IB Art Program, IB English, and IB History, as well as all AP Honors classes.
I believe with all of my heart that if it were not for soccer giving her a place to go and escape from all that she had been going through, she would not be where she is today. I thank God every day for her coach, because he saved her and me too. So, THANK YOU Sting Organization for reaching out and making it possible for us to become part of the Sting Family. You are appreciated more than you know!
